The Progress Association's Christmas Pageant Committee has been running the popular Moonta Christmas Pageant for the past 14 years. The event and its Carols on Queen Square and Santa's Cave has become one of the favorite and must see Christmas Festival events on the Peninsula.
Unfortunately, this year's Christmas Pageant and Carols had to be cancelled due to bad weather. The combination of lightning, heavy rain with flooding and power blackouts caused serious safety and logistical concerns and left Organisers with no alternative.
It was extremely disappointing for everyone involved and particularly the children. Some volunteered their time over a number of months to design and build floats for the big day and others worked feverishly in the weeks leading up to the event making sure everything was arranged and in place.
As one philosophically put it, "... at least we are well advanced in our planning for next year".
We need to look after our community club stallholders and our Management Committee will be meeting soon to refund site fees and consider claims for other expenses incurred.
