Simms Cove CoastCare Group Wins $10,000 Grant

The Simms Cove CoastCare Group and Sponsoring Organisation, the Moonta & District Progress Association, have partnered together to win a $10,000 grant under the Coastcare Community Grants Program 2011-2012.

The grant has been approved for the removal of introduced weed species from the fragile calcareous limestone cliff tops, cliff faces and adjacent sand dunes in approximately 2Ha of coastal habitat in Simms Cove, Moonta Bay.  This project will also restore the native vegetation using carefully selected native coastal species suitable for the site. This will provide a base for a sustainable natural plant community and an important habitat for native animals.
