The OPAL Program started with a very successful family day of healthy eating, games and family fun at Queen Square recently and Organisers are planning a community forum in Moonta in March to promote the cause and offer a range of opportunities for Moonta and District over the next 5 years.
The program aims to tackle obesity and promote fitness and a healthier lifestyle primarily for infants up to 18 years but the emphasis is on families and on promoting a cultural lifestyle change which will improve and sustain the health of younger people into their adult life.
The Program has access to State and federal funding and opportunities for the District could include a network of community bike tracks and a community garden.
We are encouraging residents in the Moonta and District to support the initiative and help secure the lifestyle and leisure benefits the program can offer for our children, our families and our community.
