The Tourist Train operates each day over the SA School and Public Holidays and leaves from the Moonta Mines Museum 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Wander through our heritage listed museum and experience our award winning array of all things Cornish, the lives and possessions of miners and their families in the 1800 and 1900's and the history of one of Australia's and the worlds greatest copper mining stories. Moonta Mines Museum opens 11am to 4pm.
Why not sample the tasty treats of the Old Lolly Shop which is open daily over the SA School and Public holidays from 10am to 4pm.
Take some time to visit the Heritage Listed Moonta Mines Church and marvel at it's own unique story, magnificent interiors, its highly crafted cathedral organ setting, impressive balcony surround and 1250 seating capacity.
Visit the Old Miners Cottage in the Moonta Mines to get a feel for the story and living arrangements of a local Cornish Miner and his family. Stroll through the beautifully maintained garden which is being lovingly cared for by local volunteers and contains many original plant species and the traditional long drop lavatory. The Old Miner's cottage is open 1.30pm to 4pm each day over the School holidays.
Link up with our highly popular and successful Wheal Hughes Mine Tour and enjoy an authentic underground mine tour experience.Underground mine tours are 10-30am, 12-30pm, 2-30pm. Bookings essential ph 88251891. Children must be 6 years and over.
Note: Should the weather forcast be 37 and above the previous night, all sites except the Tourist Office and Sweet Shop will be closed.
