The Wheal Hughes Mine Tours has won a prestigious Bronze Medal in the 2009 South Australian Tourism Awards. The Award was won amidst quality opposition from the very best Tourist Attractions in the State.
The Award is a fitting tribute to the determined and tireless efforts of the Moonta Community and the wonderful band of volunteers who have come together under the National Trust and Moonta Progress Association banners to save, promote and improve this unique underground mine experience. Close to 5000 visitors this year from throughout Australia and beyond have enjoyed the tour and the chance to share the story of the Moonta Mines and the underground life of a cornish miner from the 1860's.
See the Wheal Hughes Mine News Item for opening times, tickets and booking information.
