A unique underground mine tour experience near the Moonta Mines where Cornish Miners came together 150 years ago to mine the rich copper deposits and help lay the foundations for South Australia's proud mining heritage.

There are three tours on Wednesday, Saturday & Sundays at 10-30am, 12.30pm and 2-30pm. Bookings are essential ph 88251891.

The National Trust are now running an extra Heritage Tour train trip at 3pm on Wednesdays to enable visitors to do the Wheal Hughes tour and Train tour on the one day.
Cost for the Wheal Hughes tour is $15 per adult or $13 for pension or health care card holders, $8 for children and students under 18 years. A family ticket is also available for $45 for 2 adults & up to 4 children.
A reasonable degree of fitness is required & all children must be 6 years & over. Bookings are essential (phone the Tourist Office on 08 8825 1891) as groups are limited to 18 per underground tour.
Note: Should the weather forcast be 37 and above the previous night, all sites except the Tourist Office and Sweet Shop will be closed.
