The clouds loomed ominously but the rain held off for the final night of Opera at the Mines before a good crowd and what a fitting finale it was. Stellar performances by the highly talented Cast led by Bradley Daley with Ian Vayne, Joanna McWaters, Andrew Turner and Robert Macfarlane under the lead of eminent Conductor Timothy Sexton and the Adelaide Art Orchestra, cameo roles by our own Craig Woodward and Benjamin Kerr and the melodious Chorus of Townspeople under the direction of Ruth Bormann came together perfectly to give locals and visitors alike another memorable night of song, music, drama and pageantry.
It was a remarkable achievement for the Copper Coast community and Moonta and District in particular with local community clubs Moonta Progress Association, Moonta Lions, Rotary, the District Council of the Copper Coast and many volunteers working together and spending numerous hours and considerable effort over the past 12-18 months helping to make this event the highlight of our Sesquicentenary Celebrations. They, along with a strong turnout of local patrons and the support and timely intervention of State Opera SA not only guaranteed the success of the event but also paved the way for possible future high profile Art productions to be staged in the Copper Coast.
